You can deploy and attack enemy minions, and if the opponent's leader gets careless, you can strike them directly too. You also have access to a variety of weapons for taking out enemy units. A rapid-fire rifle can help your teammates eliminate foes, while snipers can aim carefully to drop targets quickly and then slip back into cover to wait for a chance to counter.

Playing WarFriends earns you experience, which raises your rank. Leveling up is simple: it unlocks new items and makes the shield you use in matches far more powerful. Alongside experience, the money you earn goes entirely toward buying support characters and weapons for your main character.
