So when you head out to clean a vent, bring along a group of players you trust.

When setting up a game, several factors deserve your attention: the number of players, the number of Impostors, whether an ejected player's identity is revealed, and how long abilities last. These settings largely determine how challenging each match will be. Before starting, discuss them with the host so you can adjust everything to suit the group.

Among Us gameplay is straightforward and inspired by the werewolf party game. Each player knows their role and works hard to help their side win. Crewmates must eliminate every Impostor aboard the ship using the clues they gather during play. However, if the number of Crewmates drops to match the number of Impostors, the victory goes to the killers. It makes for thrilling, enjoyable gameplay.

Sometimes, reaching these goals takes a long time for both sides, so the game adds another condition: Crewmates must complete their assigned tasks, while Impostors carry out sabotage and wait for the right moment to strike. Every player needs to stay alert to what they're doing and pay close attention to their surroundings.

Once you understand the goals of both sides, you'll notice that the two roles differ greatly, except for one shared ability: both can detect dead bodies and call meetings. Impostors have better night vision and usually can't complete real tasks the way Crewmates do. At the start of a match, an Impostor typically receives a list of fake tasks, which they use to move around and appear innocent to other players.

Crewmates carry out their assigned tasks diligently and aim to fill the task bar to 100%. Although tasks can be faked, some have signaling effects that let the player show they are a Crewmate. That's why players need to watch their surroundings closely, and the game also includes a camera room so you can observe other players' actions.

Once you've reached a conclusion about who the Impostor is, you can call a meeting or stand near a dead body to raise the alarm. Players then present their arguments in a chat box. When the discussion time runs out, everyone votes for the player they find most suspicious or chooses to skip the vote. The player with the most votes is eliminated and becomes a ghost. Ghosts can move freely and finish any unfinished tasks, but they can no longer kill other players.
