A World of Craftsmen

ZakuzakuCraft opens the door to an endless series of adventures within mysterious dungeons. It is, in many ways, a world built around craftsmen, since nearly everyone here knows how to craft and dreams of forging legendary gear. Good equipment is the only way to survive and defeat the monsters lurking in the dungeons, and it is also how you earn renown and precious treasure. In the world of ZakuzakuCraft, being a craftsman is considered a highly respected profession.

Long ago, a mighty and highly advanced kingdom once flourished in the world of ZakuzakuCraft. At the heart of that kingdom stood the “Golden Palace,” a place rumored to hold countless secrets and riches. For reasons unknown, the kingdom eventually fell into decline, and the Golden Palace faded from history, slowly becoming little more than a legend.

Legend also claims that the Golden Palace holds a great treasure of magical materials, something capable of turning any craftsman who possesses it into a true master of the trade. Craftsmen regard this as the ultimate goal of their lives. Whoever discovers the Golden Palace will obtain everything they have ever wished for.

Your Journey

You take on the role of a craftsman, and your dream and mission is to find the Golden Palace. Of course, doing this alone would be nearly impossible. In ZakuzakuCraft, you will assemble a team and become the leader of fellow craftsmen who share your dream. By gathering the legendary ingredients from the Golden Palace, your team will reach the highest level of crafting skill, and fame and fortune will naturally follow.

After thousands of years, the Golden Palace has become little more than a legend, and nothing is harder than searching for something that exists only in stories. That is why you must lead your team into the dungeons, the remaining ruins of the ancient kingdom, to hunt for clues about the Golden Palace.

The path will not be easy, as the dungeons are filled with traps and monsters waiting to strike. Gathering materials and crafting equipment for your adventure should be your top priority. Once you are fully equipped, you will have the confidence to venture into more dangerous areas, which also hold far more valuable rewards.

City of Craftsmen

At the start of the game, you arrive in a new city. The place is fairly spacious, though its background shows only an empty market, which I find to be a real drawback since it feels rather dull. Still, it includes locations such as the Guild, INN, Studio, Record, and Field, which together make it feel like a proper city for a world full of adventure.

• Guild – The gathering place for craftsmen, where you can recruit additional members for your team. If you have any questions, speak with the NPC here.
• INN – A place where craftsmen can rest. After resting here, you will gain the Vigor buff, which increases the rate at which you receive materials from monsters.
• Studio – The crafting workshop, the place craftsmen love most. Here you can trade items, create equipment, and upgrade it.
• Record – Something like the city library, where everything you have accomplished since starting the game is stored and documented.
• Field – The exit from the city leading into the dungeons.

One thing I appreciate about ZakuzakuCraft is how well its NPC system supports players. If your memory isn’t great, you can return to the city and ask NPCs about anything you have forgotten, which is very convenient. Beyond fighting in the dungeons, be sure to return to the city to recover and craft more equipment for your next expedition.

Skill Cards

As mentioned above, ZakuzakuCraft is a Deck-Building RPG, so collecting cards is essential. In most Deck-Building games, the cards represent characters or weapons that you play in turns to attack your opponents. In ZakuzakuCraft, the cards are skills.

From what I have seen, the game features two types of skill cards: permanent cards and consumable cards. Permanent skill cards are usually granted by the character’s Class and can be used repeatedly (defense cards, attack cards, strength cards). Consumable skill cards can be found in dungeons or crafted at the Studio (direct damage cards, healing cards, and negative-effect cards that hinder monsters).

Equipping different weapons grants you additional skill cards specific to each weapon. The stronger the weapon, the more damage its skills deal, which is why crafting is considered the “king of all professions.”

Fighting in Dungeons

Now that you've got the hang of the cards, it's time for the real fun: adventuring through the dungeons. Leave the city and you'll find plenty of dungeons waiting for you and your teammates. Pick the right one, though, or you might end up failing. If that happens, don't panic. You'll simply be sent back to the city, and everything you've collected along the way stays with you.

Inside a dark dungeon, you can only move forward. Study the map, pick the path that suits you best, and go for the treasure chests first, since they can drop skill cards or crafting materials. Then take on the monsters and claim the rewards they leave behind. Keep in mind that your character's HP won't regenerate on its own while you're in the dungeon. One careless moment can drop it to zero. To heal, use recovery cards or the REST feature, which lets you eat food to restore HP. Try not to let your HP run too low, because you never know what monster is waiting around the next corner.

When battle begins, you may face one or two monsters, and this is where your skill cards really shine. Playing a skill card costs the energy listed on that card. Permanent skill cards usually cost just 1 to 2 energy, while consumable cards don't cost any energy at all.

Each turn begins with three energy and three randomly drawn skill cards. Plan your moves carefully and use them wisely to defeat the monsters. At the end of the dungeon, you'll face a Boss with its own power level. Defeat it to "Clear" the dungeon and earn a valuable reward.
