Gameplay

The story takes place on a distant planet long ago, where monsters once roamed freely and humans were too weak to stand against them. Then one day, people discovered a mysterious power that made them far stronger, and the monsters faded into the past. Life went on peacefully for everyone, until one day the monsters came back, and the whole struggle began anew.

That's where your adventure starts, and you'll uncover the story piece by piece along the way. In my view, the game leans heavily on cutscenes. Some players may enjoy that, but if you don't skip them, you can spend 10 minutes playing and 20 minutes watching videos about the plot and other gimmicks. Thankfully, a skip option has been included.

Your journey opens with a short tutorial that teaches you the basics of combat and introduces the bosses you'll face, and then you're sent to the city where you can finally pick your first weapon.

You can choose from a two-handed sword, a giant axe, dual blades, a blaster, a spear, and a bow. Each weapon has its own distinct feature and fighting style. Ranged weapons usually deal less damage, but they also keep you at a safer distance than close-quarters combat does.

Game Features

Constant questing is the heart of the experience. You'll travel to different locations, tackling smaller monsters first and then moving on to bosses. If you've played or watched a game like Monster Hunter on PC, the formula will feel quite familiar. Your main goal is to defeat giant bosses and harvest resources from them. Some bosses are best taken on together, so you'll want to team up with like-minded players.

To grow stronger, leveling up alone isn't enough. You also need to gather plenty of resources and head to the forge, where they can be crafted into new equipment. The gear looks impressive and is built piece by piece: the stronger the boss you defeat, the more powerful the items you can unlock. Upgrade your abilities, join a guild, and be sure to visit the shop, where you can spend in-game currency or real money, unless you're not yet tired of grinding.
