Simply saying the name Wild Cards can be confusing, since many games share that title. This one is a new release from Avid Games, launched in early 2026, and it belongs to the strategy and card battle genre. Rather than following a set storyline, Wild Cards throws you straight into fast-paced battles with very few restrictive rules. Mythological figures such as gods, legendary heroes, and famous scientists all make an appearance. Are you ready to join them on their adventure?
Chaos and Limitless Fun
Wild Cards offers a world full of surprises. Everything from tiny cats to gods like Zeus and Hades appears in the game, almost as if the developers included every idea they could imagine, all presented as cards. Though they come in card form, each character carries its own unique powers and skills drawn from the legends we already know.
In this game, anything can face off against anything, turning battles into moments of laughter as much as competition. What if Queen Cleopatra had to take on a cat? Just imagining it gets me excited. With so many cards spanning history, mythology, animals, and more, Wild Cards promises hours of genuine entertainment.
Gameplay
After spending some time with Wild Cards, I found that its rules are refreshingly simple. You begin with a randomly assembled deck and can jump right into play. In essence, you select one card as your Hero, and the rest of your cards support that Hero throughout the match. Matches tend to move quickly, often ending within just a few turns.
Each turn, you gain a set amount of energy. Playing cards from your hand uses up this energy. You can play up to three cards to boost your Hero's power, and cards can also combine to unleash powerful combos. At the end of your turn, you may choose to attack your opponent or keep building energy. Once your Hero's energy is full, you can activate their special ability. Let's explore this part step by step.
What cards are included in Wild Cards?
As mentioned earlier, Wild Cards includes a huge variety of cards spanning themes like history, pirates, Egypt, Greek mythology, and beyond. Some of these themes are so unexpected that you might laugh at seeing them in a card game, such as Felines, Food, or Anatomy. Each theme contains roughly 10 to 16 cards, forming a complete collection.
Your battle deck, however, can hold a maximum of 13 cards: one Hero card and 12 support cards. This means you can build countless decks with different strategies. Also, cards you play during a match aren't discarded permanently; they're shuffled back into your deck, so you don't need to worry too much about running out. Keep in mind that cards from the same set can create interesting synergies. Make the most of them!
Trading Cards
In Wild Cards, if you want new cards, you can spend in-game currency on blind packs. Naturally, the value of the pack you buy affects your chances of pulling rare cards. Alternatively, you can visit the Marketplace to find specific cards. Here, players trade cards under categories such as Wanted and Offered, and a long list of listings is displayed. If you own a card another player needs, you can make the trade right away.
If you prefer, you can also post a request for the cards you're looking for. Wild Cards encourages trading with friends, so it pays to build a solid friend list. Keep in mind that trades can sometimes get pricey, since most sought-after cards are rare and players often ask for a price equal to or above their actual value. Stay alert, because sharks are always out there, wherever you go.
