Viking Gods is an idle role-playing game inspired by the apocalyptic events of Norse mythology and the war of Ragnarok. You are thrust into a world that has not yet met its doom, and your task is to restore the glory of the nine worlds. Use the Bifrost bridge to rise as the greatest god and conquer the different realms amid rival gods and mythical beasts. The game revolves around building and designing floors across each realm, and resource collection and management play a major role. Along the way, players meet plenty of comical and quirky characters.

The heart of the game is controlling the nine realms and managing their resource production. Every realm can be developed and upgraded to boost output, and each one is split into floors. To gather resources, you must run the floors so they produce a material called iron. Each floor holds tasks that either take a long time to complete or never end. Iron is the main currency and the key material for upgrading everything, so keeping production running is essential. Enemies constantly attack the bottom realm and will try to climb every floor if you let them. You decide how much damage they take and how fast they tear through floors, using attacks from the gods and tapping the screen.

Champions defend the realm and help it grow through a unique legend character system. These characters are collected from the Norse mythology gods. As with any card system, you obtain gods by defeating enemy armies, which reward you with treasure chests, champion cards, and resources. A single card summons a god, which you can then station on floors of specific buildings across the Nine Worlds. Champions assist you in real time during battles and help you advance. There are over 40 characters and missions to acquire.

To encourage long-term play, the game features a system called Ragnarok. It lets you fully reset your progress in exchange for resources, and you gain significant growth when you evolve. Gathering as many resources as possible and leveling up your gods as high as you can is vital, since the game also includes a PvP mode where players fight for points and earn rewards that push them up the global leaderboard.
