About Vampire: The Masquerade – CoNY
Vampire: The Masquerade – CoNY, full title Vampire: The Masquerade with Coteries of New York, is a highly engaging tabletop-style adventure game from the Vampire: The Masquerade series. It drops you into a dark world where vampires hold sway after sundown. Thanks to its compelling plot and carefully crafted scenarios, every choice you make can shape your fate right away. You may decide to flee, but there's no guarantee you'll get away safely.
Story
In the glittering city of New York, forces emerge only when the sun goes down. These are vampires, cold and dangerous beings. In Vampire: The Masquerade – CoNY, you step into the shoes of a young vampire and begin your journey from inside the vampire world. Many different vampire factions operate here, forming alliances to defend their own territories.
Even in a realm shrouded in darkness, New York hides conspiracies that run deeper than the night itself. You and your allies get caught up in various conflicts and see this shadowy side of the city firsthand. Factions constantly clash over morality and power. Some seek to enslave humanity, while others stand up to defend it. So, where does humanity fit into this city that never seems to fully light up?
Gameplay
The gameplay in Vampire: The Masquerade – CoNY is fairly straightforward. In every situation, you need to weigh your options carefully and reach your own conclusions. The game reads like a novel set in the vampire underworld of New York City, and you are the one who decides how the story unfolds. Each response you give can alter the plot and lead to a different ending.
Put simply, Vampire: The Masquerade – CoNY immerses you in a dark world of conspiracies and political schemes orchestrated by powerful vampires. Nothing beats experiencing it for yourself to truly understand its atmosphere.
Choose Your Vampire Side
At the outset, you can pick a character to begin your adventure. Each character belongs to a particular faction, which gives the opening of the game its own distinct flavor. The three factions featured in the game are:
- Brujah: The Rabble rebel against the authority of high-ranking vampires and their corrupt system. The character you play is an everyday-looking man driven by a powerful sense of purpose.
- Ventrue: A noble bloodline passed down through generations, with pure blue blood. This wealthy family wields significant influence in New York's underworld. If you choose this faction, you play as a high-ranking female executive within the family's company.
- Toreador: Artists and Divas who chase artistic breakthroughs. They are romantics, or creative souls who have pushed their passion to the edge. Your character is an artist with a fractured soul.
Gather Your Team
Any heist or even a full-scale coup requires a crew. As you carry out missions across the city, you'll meet new allies who can turn into enemies if you mishandle situations. Among the teammates you can recruit are the crafty sorcerer Tremere, the sharp-minded detective Nosferatu, the fierce Gangrel, and the enigmatic Malkavian. Each has a story of their own, and the way you bring them on board will determine how loyal they remain. Whether your team makes it through the story together is up to you.
