The Lord of the Rings: War is a real-time strategy game developed by NetEase Games in partnership with Warner Bros. Drawing on the hugely popular Lord of the Rings film saga, it is a military strategy title built around the Third Age of Middle-earth from the original trilogy. Explore a beautifully rendered world that recreates the Third Age in striking detail. The battle system feels fresh and enjoyable, though plenty of its mechanics may seem confusing at first glance.

This is a military simulation focused on expanding your territory. Recruit characters to form units, seize land, construct and upgrade military buildings and production facilities within your own domain, and keep recruiting and organizing to grow your forces.
The rules for claiming the land around your territory, square by square, along with the season system, set it apart from other RTS games. Above all, I appreciate that it avoids the many productions that merely try to imitate the original.

The Lord of the Rings is the foundational RPG saga that shaped countless fantasy games. More precisely, it is the story that came before them. I have only seen the three films, yet this game clearly features a design that puts real power behind the Ring, even at a single experience tier. Iconic characters from the films, such as Gandalf and Aragorn, also appear. Gandalf's lines (in English) are partly fully voiced, and the text is fully localized into Japanese.
THE SEASON SYSTEM MAKES EVERY RUN FEEL NEW
Right from the start, the game centers on its camp-based play. Gacha pulls and missions appear inside the base, and the world of the original is woven into the in-game content with great success. A season system also resets all map progress every two to three months, while equipment, commanders, and contribution rewards carry over. It feels designed to stay playable for a long time.
