Just like the original "Plants vs. Zombies," your job is to protect your house from a zombie invasion by commanding an army of plants. Social Edition, however, expands the story with social features. Rather than facing the zombies alone, you dive into online matches. Build your own virtual city, connect with friends via the Renren platform, trade resources, and team up on cooperative missions. In the storyline, once you finish the basic tutorial, the main character learns that zombies are attacking not just his home but nearby locations too, which pushes him to join forces with others for shared defense.
This social version keeps the classic Tower Defense gameplay while adding unique mechanics:
Plants vs. Zombies Social Edition includes 4 modes:
- Adventure: a series of missions with steadily rising difficulty (up to 4-10 stages);
- Chalet Mode: construct and upgrade houses that act as your defensive base. Each building can be upgraded up to 3 levels, unlocking extra challenges;
- Competitive Mode: battle the "weekly boss" or other players for rewards;
- Survival: adapted versions of the original survival levels with unique conditions (for example, "survival graveyard").
You can visit friends' cities to "steal" resources (15% of their income) and take on joint missions, including "capturing" other players' territories. Make use of new plants (such as Pickled Pepper, which defends a vertical line) and the dead. Plants can be boosted with "cultivators," raising their level up to 103.
If you want to relive nostalgia or try a rare version of PvZ, give this fan-made project a go, but keep in mind that this mod differs significantly from the original game.
