Persian Rug Solitaire is a twist on Crazy Quilt Solitaire, played with two standard 52-card decks. The goal is to build four suits up from Ace to King and four more down from King to Ace. The game takes its name from the layout of the tableau, which looks like a woven carpet or rug. Where Persian Rug differs from Crazy Quilt is that it has no waste pile. Instead, it features 8 reserve piles. Once the quilt is dealt, the remaining cards are split evenly across these reserve piles. To start, four Aces and four Kings of different suits are placed on the eight foundation piles, serving as their base cards. Next, 64 cards are dealt face-up in a quilt-style arrangement, and the rest are distributed evenly among the 8 reserve piles, with 4 cards in each. Cards from the quilt can be moved to the reserve or foundation whenever at least one of their short sides is exposed. Reserve piles can be built up or down by suit, and a card from one reserve pile can be moved onto another. An empty reserve pile can be filled with any card.
