Neon Abyss: Infinity is a pixel-art platformer built around randomly generated levels, where players smash enemies and crates to gather experience and coins for leveling up. I appreciate that the controls are fully manual, with the basics taught through hands-on practice rather than handholding like in many other free-to-play titles. Since it also leans into roguelike design, you never quite know what lies ahead. Another fun touch in Neon Abyss: Infinity is the eggs that trail behind your character. The further you progress, the better your odds of hatching pets from them, and those companions join you in combat. To beat the same bosses more consistently, you'll want to pick up masks from chests as well. One example is the panda mask, which raises your Evil Spirit limit based on your empty HP hearts. Boss fights reward careful study of their attack patterns, and the driving soundtrack makes every battle even more exciting.
