Tales of royal power struggles are nothing new. Across the long stretch of history and the chronicles passed down from ancient times, few jobs have been as perilous as ruling a kingdom. A king holds the nation's authority and wealth in his hands, which makes him the target of countless ambitious people. And who can resist the lure of money and power?
Beyond the intrigue within the royal court, rivalries among nobles, clashes between political factions, and the threat of foreign invaders, a king also had to endure the constant dread of assassination. Every day and every hour brought that fear. His food, his drink, his bed, and anything placed near him could not be fully trusted. A meal might be poisoned, a close companion might turn traitor, and a loyal servant might secretly dream of wearing the crown. Many rulers could not withstand this crushing pressure. Some abdicated to live out their days in comfort, free of worry. Others sank into depression or madness and never knew a single moment of peace.

Seize the throne and rule as king
In Murder, you take on the role of an assassin. You can be anyone and do almost anything. Every player's single objective is to reach the reigning king, strike at the right moment, and take him down in one blow by any means available, using any weapon at hand, before claiming the crown as the new ruler.
Yet once you sit on the throne, the cycle of assassination does not let you go. You in turn become the next target of another assassin's plot. The game keeps you playing as the assassin, eliminating each king in the realm. This relentless loop of murder mirrors history, where no one has ever been able to resist the pull of power and wealth that comes with the throne.
Disguise, trickery, attack, and perfect timing matter most
To become an assassin, you must disguise yourself to get close to the king. Murder presents a wide range of contexts, circumstances, and situations, each with its own unique disguise. Take on the assigned roles, play them convincingly, and become a successful assassin.
One moment you might be a circus clown hired to entertain His Majesty. Another time you could be the attendant presenting flowers during an important ceremony, or an intruder slipping into the palace with a hidden weapon. You might even play the royal chef and poison the king's meal. The game features hundreds of distinct roles. Playing Murder shows that beyond the monarch stands a host of different roles, both grand and humble, and each person in those roles can become an unpredictable threat to the king's safety and life. It is no surprise that the king himself is always full of fear.
Every assassin character comes with a different disguise, weapon, and method of attack. The cook can poison the food, the clown can aim a hidden dart at the king, and a thief in the crowd might carry a trident to strike him down. Throughout your journey in Murder, you will encounter every kind of assassination method, from straightforward killings to unexpected tricks.
Whatever method you use, the most important factor is timing. Choosing the right moment to strike decides whether you succeed or fail. If your attempt works, quickly grab the crown and become the kingdom's next ruler. If it fails, you are instantly handcuffed, kicked, and thrown into prison, where a gong sounds and the game is over. Replay that level until you win, then move on to the next one.
Strike when the king is alone, when he is unguarded, or when you can get within striking distance. Many moments may present themselves, but there is only one right time to act, so choose it wisely.
