Description
Modified Mi Home by Vevs: the same Xiaomi smart home app, but with a more accurate and better translation of actions, conditions and statuses.
Features:
- Added translation of actions and conditions, partly statuses, and cards for many devices (many thanks to Alex Kvazis for the collected data!). Some translation wording and interface layout have been refined.
- To make further translation easier, all cloud data is now requested with English localization, and plugins are told to use English as well (since some of them default to Chinese when the requested locale is missing). The difference from the forum version is that English is not replaced with Russian, which would give a visually similar result, so both languages remain available.
- UPDATE: As more and more plugins are translated by the manufacturer (although most of them are hard to look at without tears), the request for English localization (see the update from 14/01/18) is now sent only to plugins whose default language is Chinese. All regular plugins will use the language selected in the system, while the list of "especially gifted" plugins is forced to English (as is easy to guess, Russian still isn't among them).
- Added the ability to save various string data (statuses, actions, notifications and tokens) to a file on the memory card for further translation (details in the article).
- Changed the storage location of plugins so they can be replaced without manual root access. This solution differs from the one shown on the forum: it uses the standard application folder on external storage instead of the external drive root, i.e. "/sdcard/Android/data/com.xiaomi.smarthome/files". This location lets you uninstall the app through the system, which automatically deletes the plugin folder (which seems right to me).
- Restored the ability for scripts to disable themselves. The manufacturer seems to have grown tired of dealing with the quirks of cyclically executed conditions and simply turned this feature off (somewhat at the cost of flexibility). Use it wisely and carefully.
- Removed a condition for weather changes in China, which is useless in our region and a visual eyesore.
- Disabled most Chinese-only interface elements (store, recommended scenes, voice control, consumables, etc.), so the app looks as if the selected region is outside mainland China. A brief check showed basic functionality is intact, but it needs real-world testing. I'm waiting for feedback in the comments if anyone needs it at all.
- Disabled the voice control button and the news banner in settings.
- Disabled on-screen advertising and the push notifications that come with it.
- Disabled the new phone-number authorization page; by default, the usual Mi account login now opens.
- Added color separation of cloud and local scenarios: in the scenario list (except the child device list), cloud scenario names are shown in dark blue.
- Added display of the device token in network properties, and display of the script identifier (us_id) in its properties. The device token, script ID and user ID can be copied to the clipboard with a long tap.
