Description
Metal Detector
Launch the app, then hold your phone and draw a sweeping figure "8" in the air. Bring the device close to the area you want to inspect. Readings above 50 μT on the screen indicate that metal objects are nearby.
Features
You don't need pricey, specialized gear to locate metal objects.
Your smartphone is already a powerful tool, packed with a wide range of built-in sensors.
To detect metal, the phone's magnetic sensors have to be activated, and the "Metal Detector" app for Android makes this possible.
How to Use the App
Follow these steps to get started:
- Open the app.
- Aim your phone at the sky and draw a sweeping figure "8".
- Move the phone closer to the object you want to check.
- Watch the magnetic field indicator on your screen. By default it reads around 49-50 μT and rises as you get near metal items.
Many people wonder why they need to trace a figure "8" when setting things up.
This same motion is also required to activate the compass, and it will come up with other mobile apps as well.
It wakes up the magnetic sensors built into your smartphone. Tracing a figure "8" in the air, ideally with the phone angled toward the sky, is what calibrates those sensors. That's really all there is to it.
You can get the "Metal Detector" app for Android from ApkMod for free.
