Loongcheer Game applies advanced techniques such as Toon Shading (cartoon-style shading) and Outline Processing (post-processing outline rendering), bringing the anime look to life in 3D.
The game also lets you adjust graphics quality across three levels: Low, Medium, and High, with frame rate options of 30 and 60 FPS (frames per second). These settings make it easy to enjoy the game smoothly, whether your phone is powerful or more modest.
The 2D character art is well drawn and animated with Live2D technology. It's a small visual detail, but one of the game's most appealing features.
Animation
The standout visual feature of Legend of Fighters: Duel Star is its 3D animation. Each character's movements are carefully crafted, from idle poses and attacks to the transitions between actions. Gameplay
Legend of Fighters: Duel Star is built around auto-battle strategy. Simply place your characters on the field and they'll fight on their own, much like Teamfight Tactics. The battle is viewed from the side, with your formation on the left and the enemy on the right. Each side has five placement positions: two in the front row, one in the center, and two in the back row.
The front row gives melee and tank characters a head start, helping them join the fight quickly and draw enemy attention. The center and back rows suit marksmen, mages, and long-range supports, keeping them out of harm's way. Harder stages, however, include enemies whose moves strike from behind or target your farthest character, so stay flexible when arranging your team.
Characters and Skills
The characters in Legend of Fighters: Duel Star are highly diverse, drawn from many popular anime and games, as well as anime-style reinterpretations of figures from the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Each character has a distinct fighting style, and the character enhancement screen sorts them by class so players can easily understand their roles. The classes are:
- Warrior: Melee, high resistance.
- Assassin: Melee, high damage, fast attack speed, low resistance.
- Shooter: Long-range attacks, high damage, low resistance.
- Support: Long-range attacks, low damage and resistance, typically healing or buffing allies.
Every character has one basic attack, three auto-activated skills, and one ultimate skill. The basic attack is the character's standard strike, used against enemies within range at all times. Auto-activated skills fire whenever they are off initialization or cooldown, then enter cooldown after use. Ultimate skills become available once the character's internal energy bar (the yellow bar beneath the health bar) is fully charged by attacking enemies. Ultimates unlock at level 1, and you activate them by tapping the character's avatar in the lower right corner of the screen.
Elemental Features
To add more depth to the game, Legend of Fighters: Duel Star introduces an extra “elemental system.” Every character and enemy belongs to one of six elemental systems. A team that includes a certain number of characters from the same system will trigger a stat-boosting bonus. The systems also counter one another: characters whose element counters an opponent's element deal 25% more damage to that opponent.
The six elemental systems and their counter relationships work as follows (the element listed after an arrow is countered by the one before it): Water -> Fire -> Mount -> Forest -> Fire. Two special elements counter only each other and are not countered by the four elements above: Thunder >< Infernal.
Gacha System
Characters come in three rarity tiers: R (Rare), SR (Super Rare), and SSR (Super Super Rare). As you might expect, the rarer the character, the stronger they tend to be. You can obtain characters through the game's gacha system, which is quite generous to players. The drop rate for SSR characters is fairly high, and rewards throughout the game also hand out a good number of them. If you've grown tired of never pulling rare characters in other gacha games, the gacha system in Legend of Fighters: Duel Star will definitely make up for it.
