About Kingdom Rush

Kingdom Rush is a classic fantasy tower-defense game from Ironhide Games. You place tower upgrades along the path enemies follow toward your base. To win a level, you have to stop enemies from breaking through your defenses. Your health is shown as hit points, and if enemies get past your defense, your health runs out and you lose the level. Strategy also means deciding which side of the map to leave lightly defended and adapting to the ever-changing pattern of monster waves. Think carefully about which side to draw your resources from so you can counterattack most effectively.

Each game begins with four basic tower types: three direct-damage towers and one defensive tower called the barracks. Barracks are central to the strategy, since they spawn units that fight enemies and block their path. Enemies that your towers cannot hit are held in place so the towers can keep dealing damage. Every tower has its own traits, such as damage output and rate of fire. Because of a physical cooldown, a tower deals damage and then needs a noticeable pause before it can fire again, so faster towers can sometimes break through a defensive line. Players therefore need to understand tower timing and placement to keep enemies out of range.

Heroes are a new addition to this version, layered on top of the existing stationary defense system. These mobile units carry high attack stats and are controlled directly by the player. Ten'shi is a hero introduced in this version who begins as an old man and grows more muscular the more he fights. His attack strength is tied to how many battles he has taken part in. Once he fights enough, he transforms into a stronger form that can strike many more enemies at once. Positioning heroes well is essential for getting through the tougher enemy waves.

Alongside towers and heroes, the game offers global support skills that are not tied to any specific spot on the map. Two examples are Call Reinforcement and Rain of Fire. Call Reinforcement summons allied troops to a location of your choice along the path, temporarily boosting your defenses. Rain of Fire deals area damage, making it ideal for wiping out large groups of weaker enemies or targeting more powerful units. As you advance through each campaign, the game lets you upgrade individual towers to level 3. Upgrades cost money, which you earn after winning battles. Level 3 upgrades grant stat boosts and are required for later progress in the game.

Kingdom Rush mixes a star system with level-based tiers to shape how you progress. You can play any level on Casual, Normal, or Veteran difficulty. Finishing a level earns stars based on the difficulty you chose and how well you performed. You then spend those stars on passive skills in a skill tree. These skills permanently boost your towers and support abilities, as well as your redeployable units, by raising their health and damage. Since stars are the game's main currency, replaying levels to sharpen your strategy and improve your scores is strongly rewarded. The game also includes an enemy encyclopedia that automatically logs new species, helping you work out which towers work best against each type of enemy.

Stages with several variations and different kinds of monsters give the game's strategy real depth. Monster waves return with greater strength, so you need to act proactively rather than just react. Beating a stage unlocks new skills and upgrades for your heroes. Mastering the game is tough because you have to decide whether to upgrade towers you've already placed or build new ones. Knowing the right moment to use your hero's power, especially during transformations like Ten'shi's, is key to conquering the hardest stages. The sharpest difficulty spikes come from judging when to upgrade towers and when to invest in reinforcements. Grasping the variety of the monster legions is essential for the toughest stages, and the deepest satisfaction comes from mastering the game's strategies.
