Heroes of Tactics unfolds in Mayra, an imaginary fantasy land. A devastating magical catastrophe has befallen this realm (its causes and consequences are laid out in the game's first chapter), and Yavor, a local mage and alchemist, is deeply tied to this disaster.

STORY

The people of Mayra are therefore well acquainted with magic, magical creatures, and supernatural powers. The tale is told by the residents of Erytheia, known as the Erithians.

For a long stretch of time, the Erythians waged brutal battles against bands of monsters and nomads. No one knows for certain where these fearsome creatures came from or when they first appeared on the Borderland. The invaders, called the Urue, struck distant and nearby nations alike before advancing on Erithan.

The invaders had plagued the territories of Erytheia for years, but at some point their raids grew into a far greater danger. As the threat spread across the world and neighboring lands suffered terribly, Erytheia decided to join forces with several nearby lands (Dalia, Gron-Bourne, and the free tribes of Sarii) to drive them beyond the Tranquil Plains and rid the land of their presence.

Together, the allied forces pushed the urus out of Erytheia principality by principality, all the way to the Tranquil Plains. The monsters on the battlefield and the fighting itself grew ever more savage and extreme, and no real plan existed to defeat them. It was then that the idea of building fortresses took shape, as a way to defend territory against large-scale enemy raids and then clear the surrounding area. The closer the army came to the Frontier, the more slowly it was able to subdue its foes.

GAMEPLAY

In this intriguing story spanning more than 150 missions, players must choose the best Tower Defense strategies and build available fortifications to meet the approaching enemy waves. An additional game interface lets players spend resources, which are earned only during battles, to upgrade their towers. Players can place battle weapons in designated areas or spots.

Players can upgrade their weapons not only during combat. There are also tactics for improvements made outside of battle (the building tree) and scientific research that boosts tower warfare capabilities (the science tree).
