Description

Read and write to any folder on your Android device, including the sdcard, using this FTP Server Pro. Back up your photos to your PC, or copy music and movies onto your device, and more.

If you don't have an FTP client yet, I recommend FileZilla (available at http://filezilla-project.org/), though you can also use File Explorer on Windows.

The free version does not support landscape screen mode.

How to connect to the FTP server using a USB cable:

This is useful when you have a USB cable but no network connection is available. 1) On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development and enable the "USB debugging" option. 2) Connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable. 3) Start the ADB server. On your PC, run the command "adb start-server". ADB is a tool included in the Android SDK, and you will usually find it in android-sdk/platform-tools/adb. 4) Forward the required ports from your PC to your phone. On your PC, run the command "adb forward tcp:2221 tcp:2221". You will need to repeat this step for the FTP server port and all passive ports configured on your phone. Using a small range of passive ports makes this easier. Once set up, any connection to 127.0.0.1:2221 on your PC will be forwarded to port 2221 on your phone. 5) Launch the FTP server on your phone, open its settings, and under "Network interfaces" select "Loopback (127.0.0.1)" or "All". 6) Start the FTP server. 7) On your PC, connect your FTP client to ftp://127.0.0.1:2221 (the port may differ depending on your FTP server configuration).

Connections in this mode must always be initiated from the PC, so only passive mode is available when using a USB connection.

Permissions needed:

INTERNET ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE ACCESS_WIFI_STATE

Network permissions allow the server to open network communication with FTP clients.

WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Allows the FTP server to save files received from FTP clients to the SD card.

WAKE_LOCK

Keeps the phone awake only while the server is running. If the phone goes to sleep, connections to the FTP server may fail.
