FINAL FANTASY BE: WOTV is a complete tactical RPG built from scratch by SQUARE ENIX and gumi. It carries over the world setting of the smartphone RPG “FFBE,” while bringing in the systems that FF fans know well, such as “Jobs” and “Abilities.” Your units can unlock new jobs as they grow, and each one can hold several jobs and abilities. Battles take place on a 3D field with elevation changes, and winning depends on how well you put your strategy to work.

3D TACTICAL BATTLES THAT RECALL FFT!

Fight across a battlefield full of height differences, with both Auto and double-speed modes available. Leonis, a nation surrounded by great powers, has inherited the “Vision” ring, a power that lets people bring their thoughts to life in combat. Twin princes Mont and Stel, born in Leonis, joined forces for their homeland, yet a chain of cruel events slowly strained their bond. Story battles are turn-based, with allies and enemies acting in the order their CT gauges fill. Move across the field to strike foes, use a variety of abilities, unleash Limit Bursts (LB), and call powerful summons to claim victory.

HIGH-QUALITY BATTLE PRESENTATION AND PLENTY OF CONTENT

The original story carries on the world of FFBE, including the Vision system. Early on, Mont and Stel appear friendly, but as the tale unfolds, the heroine finds herself caught between swords, hinting at dramatic developments to come. The narrative style recalls the Ogre Battle series and FF Tactics, and the presentation of LBs and summons looks great. Even in battle, I enjoyed a strategic fight that factored in jobs, abilities, elements and more across a map with height differences.

Both solo and multiplayer modes are included, and the scope for developing units and playing in each mode is broad. However, the Trust Master feature is just as hard to obtain as it was when FFBE first launched; without an item such as a Tramog, it feels nearly out of reach.

Gacha pulls bundle units and Vision cards together. Only a few numbered units are on record, and it's hard to move units to designated spots in battle, so it's clear that adjustments will likely arrive after launch. At the very least, I'd like the target unit to be confirmed when pulling 10 gachas in a row.

Each unit has several jobs and can learn abilities. Units progress through levels, equipment, jobs and skill boards, Vision cards, and training menus such as Awakening and Limit Break. The Trust Master system lets you unlock and choose multiple jobs for each unit, earning special bonuses by breaking limits and awakening them to the max.

Most units are acquired through gacha, which also includes unit and Vision cards. Rarity ranks run UR > SSR > SR, and the top-tier UR rate is 2% for units only.
