Dark Throne is a 3D action RPG built around missions in a world seized by the demon realm. Set in the land of "Eisendar," which has fallen under demonic control, you'll face off against monsters and demons disguised as adventurers. Pick one of three classes, venture into the demon realm, defeat foes, choose your loot wisely, and run the dungeons again for a classic hack-and-slash experience.

TAP-BASED ACTION BATTLES!

From the base portal, you can enter the labyrinthine dungeons of the demon realm. There's no gamepad to worry about: simply tap the screen to move your character, and once you get close enough to an enemy, a normal attack triggers automatically. Combine this with your class-specific active skills to take down the foes waiting on every floor.

DARK THRONE OFFERS A DARK FANTASY WORLD AND A ROYAL ROAD SYSTEM

The game draws a heavy dark fantasy setting themed around the demon realm, and its monster designs, such as the mid-sized spiders and other creatures, look great. Combat is as simple as tapping the screen, and depending on your class, you can hit and retreat to keep your distance from enemies. That said, stage layouts are fairly repetitive and change little, and I wished for gamepad controls instead of tapping, with a satisfying button press and the feel of a real slash.

FIND GEAR AND CHOOSE WISELY!

Characters belong to classes such as Holy Knight, Assassin, and Devil Hunter, each with distinct controls and abilities. Enemies in the dungeon drop gold and equipment, but every class has gear restrictions, so be sure to sell what you don't need. Menus for equipment synthesis and upgrades also unlock as you progress.

DARK THRONE EARLY-STAGE STRATEGY TIPS

There's no story-driven adventure segment, so you'll repeatedly pick, repair, and upgrade equipment while moving between dungeon runs and the base. Talk to the old man near the dungeon portal and he'll fill you in on the situation a little, so it's worth listening in as you run the dungeons.

UNLOCK NEW CONTENT BY RAISING YOUR PLAYER LEVEL

After clearing a dungeon, step onto the altar near the portal to charge up your experience points. Once the gauge fills, your character levels up and gains stronger stats, and meeting certain conditions unlocks features such as weapon synthesis and upgrades. Keep an eye on the synthesis menu: combining duplicate equipment can transform it into an entirely different piece of gear. Note that synthesizing a weapon you have equipped may turn it into equipment for another class.
