The battlefield is split into two mirrored halves. Each side has a spot where you summon your angels and a path that enemies march along. At the end of that path sits the character you must defend. If an enemy reaches it, you lose. The two halves are identical, so both players compete on equal terms, and the last one standing wins the level.

SUMMON POWERFUL ANGELS

Along the bottom of the Battle Angels screen you'll find your card deck and the energy you spend to play them. Energy builds up over time and increases as you defeat enemies. Since the enemy path is short, you need to plan carefully to build a strong defense. Each angel you summon costs part of your energy.

Once placed, new characters appear on the field, and their attacks don't depend on their distance from the enemy, so they can stop advancing foes from wherever they stand. You can also summon duplicates over time, since merging two matching characters raises their star level and boosts their power against enemies.

BUILD YOUR STRENGTH TO FIGHT THE ENEMY

One of the most appealing parts of Battle Angels is collecting adorable characters. As you play through levels and finish quests, new angels join your roster. Each one comes with its own card, and the number shown on the card tells you how many copies you have and how many you still need to upgrade that character's stats. This system is common in many games, and it keeps you invested in growing your team.

Upgrades matter a great deal because you'll face other players in PvP matches to see who lasts longer. The side with the stronger, more effective characters usually comes out on top. Regular enemies aren't especially threatening, but the boss that opens each level has far more health than usual. You can also team up with friends and play together.
