AutoCast is a Tasker plugin that gives you complete control over your Chromecast. Beyond casting images, audio, and video from Tasker, it lets you cast and control a wide range of local and web content, including YouTube videos and playlists, notifications, voice, and web pages. You can even take over playback of other apps that are already casting.

In AutoCast, everything you cast is treated as a custom screen. Built-in screens include: – "Full Screen Media": cast videos, photos, and audio full screen so they look their best. For example, you can run a slideshow while playing system audio from your phone, or watch a movie in AutoCast while your Android notifications appear on the TV. You can even play a continuous slideshow of photos and videos. – "Alternate Home Screen": a screen closely resembling the built-in Chromecast home screen, but it displays any photos you choose and can show extra info such as the current weather or whether your home heater is on. Like every AutoCast screen, it supports all the extras, so you can receive notifications on it or play background music.

You can also cast any web page you like, as long as the page allows it. My goal with AutoCast is to see people around the world create their own amazing custom screens that you can easily import and use.

YOUTUBE INTEGRATION

With AutoCast, you can cast any YouTube video or playlist to any screen. For example, with AutoShare you can cast a YouTube video straight from your Android web browser, or with AutoRemote you can cast a playlist from the YouTube website.

MULTIPLE SOURCES

With AutoCast, you can stream media from a constantly expanding range of websites and services, including Dropbox, Vimeo, Flickr, Gametrailers and many more. For instance, you can display every photo on Flickr's explore page as a slideshow, or cast a Gametrailers video straight from your favorite RSS reader on Android.

MULTIPLE USERS

Since AutoCast can also pass messages from your Chromecast back to your Android device, you can build collaborative casting apps, such as a photo editor where several people work on the same image at once.

CONTROL AND INFO

AutoCast lets you control playback in its own media and in other apps such as YouTube, Google Play Music or Plex. You can also retrieve details about what is currently playing, which makes it possible to build a remote Chromecast controller for your PC, for example. The possibilities are practically endless!
