Description
Arete: Battles of Alexander lets you step into the ancient world and lead the legendary Macedonian army in a hex-and-counter wargame that brings Alexander the Great's conquests to life. The story runs from his early campaigns beside Philip II to his famous clashes with King Darius III and his bold push into India. The game is built around the Greek idea of arete, meaning excellence and virtue earned through heroic deeds. You can jump into a Solo Quick Game against AI opponents, work through an extensive Solo Campaign covering seven key battles, or enjoy Pass-and-Play for local multiplayer with friends. Online multiplayer lets you test your tactics against rivals from around the world. A thorough tutorial prepares newcomers with the skills they need, while detailed rules and historical notes add depth to every battle. With beautifully hand-drawn artwork, Arete offers seven distinct scenarios, each recreating a major battle from Alexander's career, so you can plan your moves and outmaneuver your enemies.
