Backstory
Grotesque alien monsters are closing in on Earth. Wielding tentacles, advanced machinery and enormous mechanical frames, they are tearing into the blue planet. Much of the world has been badly ruined, leaving people with nowhere to shelter and the land nearly lifeless.
Right at this critical moment, a band of heroic space warriors stepped in to fight back. Each one launched fierce strikes against the invaders. But how long can they hold out, and will peace ever return to Earth? That depends entirely on the player's keen eye and talent for fusion.
Merging gems powers warrior attacks
The vertical screen of Arcane Crystals is split in two. The upper half displays the battlefield, with enemies, their health bars and a bleak landscape behind them. The lower half is a match-3 puzzle board filled with countless random, colorful gems.
Every level brings its own mission. Arcane Crystals offers thousands of these challenges. Each stage features a different enemy type and a different formation of troops, so the tactics you build must change too. This keeps the game both demanding and a real stimulus for creative strategy.
Adapt your strategy to each enemy
Arcane Crystals features hundreds of planetary monsters, each with its own size and attack pattern. They rarely appear alone: as you progress, you will face several monsters at once within a single level, and they may be identical or entirely different.
Each gem type in the game also has its own effect, with separate attack and destruction values. It takes some time to learn these traits. Once you do, you can pick the right match-3 combinations to unleash powerful strikes suited to each group of enemies. Build effective combos quickly and you will clear levels cleanly and unlock rewards sooner.
The difficulty of Arcane Crystals ramps up
At first, you will tackle simple match-3 missions, and the early stages are pleasantly easy, taking only a few minutes each. Over time, however, the challenge grows.
The color arrangements become more intricate and demanding, and the difficulty also comes from external constraints such as move limits, time limits and minimum numbers of enemies you must defeat.
These restrictions, combined with increasingly complex level design, can sometimes be maddening. Yet that is exactly what makes the game so compelling and hard to put down.
Unlock new space warriors
You begin with a single space warrior. After completing a set number of match-3 battles, you gain enough experience points to unlock a new warrior. Keep going, and you will build a powerful team capable of repelling every monster raging across the planet.
Every warrior has a unique trait
Each warrior you unlock has distinct characteristics, and no two are alike. With signature weapons, individual attacks and unique appearances, every hero offers a different experience. Put their powers to use to turn the tide of each battle.
Every new space warrior you fight alongside brings fresh combat experience, giving you a completely different playthrough each time.
