Description
AKAPAN NITE
A turn-based RPG where you play as an ordinary person setting out on an epic adventure, facing a host of strange, Japanese-style monsters determined to take you down.
Review
The story follows an ordinary office worker whose daily commute on a train takes a bizarre turn. He ends up inside an ancient temple, falls through a large hole, and finds himself in a dungeon ruled by strange monsters.
The hero wears red shorts and carries nothing but a bag and an umbrella, which he swings as a makeshift weapon to fend off the creatures. This is where his thrilling journey begins, and your mission is to help him escape this perilous place and make his way back home.
Gameplay
As the main character, you explore dungeons where every step may bring a new threat in the form of quirky monsters. Combat is turn-based: once you move your hero, the monsters take their turn.
On each level you must collect all the hearts to advance to the next one, though defeating every enemy is not required. Along the way you will discover a variety of defensive and offensive items that you can use at any moment during battles.
Defeated monsters may drop special cards that grant unique abilities, letting your hero perform powerful special moves. As you progress through the stages, you will also find weapons, armor, and other useful gear. Don't forget to eat food to restore your health, since reaching 0 health means you fail the stage.
